The soup lunch is in response to the Moderators Appeal. The Rev Michael Barry has already released £50,000 to Christian Aid, Tearfund and the  Presbyterian Church of South Sudan’s Relief Development Agency to help head off a food crisis which the UN Security Council has described as the “worst in the world” with four million people in need of emergency food aid, water and medical treatment, with the world’s newest country on the brink of famine. The Presbyterian  Church  in South Sudan has over one million members who will be affected by this. On Sunday the 31st of August we will be having a southern Sudan Soup Soiree straight after the morning service to raise money for this very needy cause.
